Rescue Kitties of Hawaiʻi is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We collect only what we need to rescue cats and place them in good homes, and we never sell it.

What we collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to give it to us:
- Adoption, foster, and volunteer applications. Your name, email address, phone number, home address, birthdate, and your answers about your home, household, pets, and experience.
- Messages. Your name, email address, and whatever you write when you use our contact form or email us.
- Surrenders and adoptions. The contact details and signed agreements needed to transfer a cat to or from our care.
This website does not use advertising or analytics trackers, and it does not set cookies to follow you from page to page.
How we use it
- To review your application and decide whether a cat is a good match for your home.
- To contact you about your application, your message, or a cat you have adopted, fostered, or surrendered.
- To keep the records a rescue needs to keep, such as who adopted or fostered each cat.
We do not use your information for marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.
Who can see it
Your information is seen only by the Rescue Kitties of Hawaiʻi team members who need it to do their work. Each of them signs in individually, and changes to our records are logged.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it outside our team only when:
- it is needed to complete an adoption or transfer you are part of, for example with a veterinarian or a partner rescue receiving a cat;
- you ask us to; or
- the law requires it.
Where it is kept
Applications and messages sent through this website go straight into our private records system. Both the website and the records system are hosted in the United States by Cloudflare, and information is encrypted while it travels between you and us.
To help stop spam, the address your device connects from is checked briefly when you submit a form. We do not store it with your application.
How long we keep it
We keep adoption, foster, and surrender records for as long as they are needed for the care of the cat and for our legal and tax obligations as a nonprofit. If your application does not go ahead, you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Other websites we link to
Donations are handled by the service you choose, such as Zeffy, PayPal, Venmo, Givebutter, or GoFundMe. We never see or store your card or bank details. Those services, along with Facebook, Instagram, and Amazon, have their own privacy policies.
Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when you visit.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email info@rescuekittiesofhawaii.org and we will respond as soon as our volunteers are able. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it, such as a completed adoption agreement.
Children
Our applications are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
